TIGHE recently signed a contract with Nextel to provide GPS tracking and data transmission services for its entire fleet throughout the northeastern United States. With this system, dispatchers will be able to monitor, locate, and communicate with any driver instantaneously. In addition to using the GPS technology, data transmission on delivery information will be transmitted on a real time basis to update TIGHE’s TMS with critical delivery information. This information will then be made available on TIGHE’s web site for customers to view.
“We’re looking for this investment in technology to help us improve our customer service as well as increase our productivity with our fleet” says Paul O’Shea VP of Transportation. The project is expected to be completed by mid August 2004.
