TIGHE Implements a New Voice Directed Scanning and Picking System

Mansfield, MA. - January 1, 2006 - - TIGHE Warehousing and Distribution has once again demonstrated its "Leadership in Logistics" by recently implementing a new technologically advanced scanning and picking system in its Mansfield Warehouse. Working together with its partners, TIGHE has moved forward with radio frequency scanning and voice-directed picking operations.

TIGHE has made a long-term investment by installing POE radio frequency access points throughout the warehouse. These access points will allow scanners and headsets to communicate directly with the server in the corporate data center, via the internet.

The use of hand-held scanners & Radio Frequency (RF) scanning of inbound freight has streamlined the receiving process. What once took multiple receivers and countless paperwork can now be done by one person and the process is paperless.

The use of voice-directed headsets, will streamline the shipping process. In moving from paper picking to voice picking gains in accuracy, and productivity are expected.

This technology will allow for increased productivity as workers will stay focused on the job at hand. They will not be reading from and writing on paper, but rather talking and listening through a headset. Other benefits of this implementation are an expected accuracy rate of 99.99% and a reduction in training time of 50%. The increased productivity and accuracy will enable TIGHE to become even more competitive in the industry.
